In the effort to remain green on campus, all graduates will be wearing regalia made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles!
This line of graduation wear - called GreenWeaver® - is made of fabric spun from molten plastic pellets.
With some 60 million plastic bottles going into U.S. landfills every day, Stony Brook University is making sure fewer of those bottles will be choking our landfills by turning them into keepsakes. For every Stony Brook University graduate walking at commencement, an average of 25 plastic bottles will be used to produce your cap and gown.
